Lifeguards use whistles to communicate with each other and patrons. Please make sure you and your children what to do when you hear a whistle:
- 3 long whistles – Lost Child Search: Everyone must clear the water immediately.
- 2 long whistles – Emergency alert to other lifeguards. Everyone must clear the water immediately.
- 1 long whistle – Non-Emergency, clear the water. This is also blown to indicate it is okay to re-enter the water.
- 1 short whistle – Attention! Look to lifeguard for further instruction.
Occasionally, the swimming area is cleared to make safety checks, for weather, or to conduct rescue drills. Please have your children check in with you during these times.
In the event that 911 must be called, please inform a staff member and they will call from the land line. If there is no staff member in sight, please do not hesitate to call.

Members are issued decals to enter Membership Beach. Decals must be attached and displayed on the driver’s side of the car or on the back window. Each family is entitled to three decals (one for each adult in the household, and if necessary, an au pair or child care provider).
