Giving to Hale Reservation
Hale Reservation relies on the support of generous donors to fulfill our mission. Maintaining and managing an excess of 1,137 acres of land, over 60 buildings and structures, and providing programs for more than 7,000 children and 420 families annually is an expensive task. This unique mix of land management and preservation with comprehensive educational programming is valuable – worthy of your support.

“We would like to thank the men and women who made Hale Reservation possible. Also, we would like to send our deepest thanks and appreciation to the Staff at Hale…” - Parent, 2005
The Annual Appeal helps make up the difference between fee and tuition dollars and the actual cost to conduct all the programs, maintain the facilities and manage the land at Hale Reservation.
Hale Reservation asks donors, friends and neighbors to consider a gift to support our operations. Thanks to the generous response, we have been able to add play spaces for children, conduct more high quality training for staff, upgrade facilities, and offer additional programs for participants.
We hope you appreciate all the things that make Hale special and will consider a donation today.
“Your positive influence on a good group of kids was exactly what my son needed for the summer – relief from the stresses of school and just good clean fun!! We are extremely pleased with his increased confidence as demonstrated by his improvements in various areas of the ropes course, which has been a scary activity for him in the past. He’s come home many a day tired, but happy!!” – Parent, 2007
Campership & Financial Aid
Hale Reservation provides over $145,000 of campership, financial aid and subsidies annually. Each year we raise money to provide these opportunities in all of our program areas; Hale Day Camp, Membership Beach, Education and Adventure and Agency Camps.
Gifts to the Campership and Financial Aid program support our current year needs unless designated to the James E. Earley (JEE) Campership Fund. The JEE Fund operates as an endowment that supports only campership and financial aid. A portion of the interest earned from the account is used annually to support need for that year.
“Thank you for a great summer. Tristan and Kasyn gained so much confidence from their swimming lessons – what a wonderful gift to give! We had a great time – see you next summer.” – Parent, 2006
Hale Reservation has a very modest endowment of just over $600,000. These funds were raised from the Capital Campaign completed in the fall of 2009. Donors may still give gifts to support the growth of the Endowment. The Endowment Fund principle will remain in tact while a portion of the interest earned is allocated to annual operations. The endowment, in conjunction with reserve funds, now exceeds $1,000,000.
“Thanks a million for helping James feel comfortable during his teary times at the bus stop and on the bus. This being his 1st camp experience was so good he wants to return next summer!” – Parent, 2007

“Follow me to Hale Reservation. You will see the nature around you. See the leaves falling on the ground. When leaves are falling sometimes they fall on you. When you are walking listen for the wind whistling in the air. Smell the air around you. You will feel calm and quiet in the woods. So will you follow me to Hale Reservation?” Robert – age 9
