Boating Lessons at Family Membership Beach

Boating Lesson Information

Sailing Lessons: Sailing lessons are in great demand. Numbers unfortunately are restricted by the availability of boats and instructors.

Class size varies 4 - 12. Each instructor takes 4 children only. The child must be at least 8 years old and be in swimming Level 5 or above. Two or more sessions are recommended. A commitment to classes is required. A swim test is required to take part in the class - swim 100 yards crawl and tread water for 4 minutes.

Boating Adventures: Class Size varies 12 - 15.

Children will explore Noanet Pond while being introduced to basic rowing and canoeing skills. No sign-ups required.

Carowing - NEW!: Class size limited to 9. The child must be 7 & up and in Level 3 or above. Children will learn how to canoe and row with proper technique, as well as learn what to do if they lose a paddle or the boat tips over. The class will be offered M, W, F or T, Th, F with Friday being a combined class. Sign ups required.


Adult Sailing Lessons: Classes are offered weekdays at 5 p.m. and some Saturday mornings. Please speak to the Director or the Head Boating Instructor to register. Babysitting will be offered in conjuncture to the program.

Kayaking: This is not a formal class, but rather a time for children to learn to use the kayaks and play games with supervision. No sign-ups are required, numbers are restricted to the number of kayaks available, and help will be offered on a first come, first serve basis.
